Natural Science Center

JIMMY UPDATE: Due to some scheduling conflicts, Jimmy will be out of work until next week!

Having said that, today he and I chaperoned a field trip to the Natural Science Center in Greensboro with Holly's class. We had 3 kids total that we were responsible for (Holly, her best friend Kendall, and Timothy). We visited all the exhibits in the building, which consisted of snakes, fossils, aquariums, technology and plants. Then we had to meet up with the rest of the class to see a planetarium show. There were lots of "ooooh"'s and "aaaaah"'s from everyone, including the adults. Next was lunch, and then we went to visit the animal exhibits outside. My group had been itching to see that all morning. There was a lion, meerkats (adorable), crocodiles, parrots, monkeys, peacocks (interesting), wolves, and Holly's favorite, lemurs. She has been talking about them ever since she got her stuffed lemur, Homer! She just stood there and watched every move they made, and trust me, they were moving! I am posting some of my favorite pics of the day.

OME!!!!

Tonight was date night, and since the race at Bowman Gray was rained out, we decided to just do "whatever". We ended up at Borders (my FAVORITE store) and as I was browsing the merchandise, I came across an Edward Cullen doll from "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" movie.

Now, I am an EXTREMELY HUGE fan of all things Twilight, especially Edward Cullen, so imagine my surprise when I see that this doll is 50% off. So, I talk Jimmy into getting it, and when we take it to the register, we see that it is actually 75% off, making the final price $4.50!! Not only was Jimmy more than okay with getting it, he threw in a "New Moon" keychain that was on sale for $2.50!

All in all, this was a pretty awesome night :) Thanks Jimmy!!

Time is running out...

I knew that this time was coming, I just didn't think that it would get here so fast. On Monday, Jimmy goes back to the doctor and we fully expect for him to be released to go back to work.

In March, Jimmy had knee surgery to repair a plica band that was damaged due to a fall at work. He has been home with us since March 15th.

We are going to miss him so much. Working third shift, we don't really get a chance to see him except for the weekends, and in the summer, they are so busy at Pepsi that he can work 7 days a week. :(
I know that the kids are going to have to get used to him not being with us everyday. They have loved having him home! In the evenings before dinner (and after homework), we would all go outside and the kids would ride their bikes. We have been able to sit down every night and eat dinner as a family and that has been so special. Also, Jimmy and I had gotten into the habit of having a date night every week (usually Friday night)! Those times will be missed :(

We are still going to try to continue to do these things as often as possible (schedule permitting)!

For those of you who have a significant other who works during the day and can be home with you in the evenings, enjoy spending those moments together as a family!

I am posting some pics along with this of Jimmy's knee that were made during his surgery. Enjoy!

Back to school...

As of today, I am officially a full-time student of GTCC. Go Titans!!! I start classes on May 19th, and although I am excited, I am more than a little nervous. It has been a while since I have been in a classroom. Jimmy and I went down to the campus today and finished up with the paperwork, visited the bookstore, and walked around campus. It is 10 times bigger than Forsyth Tech! Wish me luck...

Lindsay Lou

Lindsay, or Lou (as we call her), is probably the funniest and most honest person I know. If you ask her a question and you want to hear what YOU want to hear, don't ask her :) She recently went to Kindergarten registration. All of the teachers pretty much know her through Holly, but there were a few who weren't used to her brand of honesty. One of the speech therapists that conducted her assessment asked her what her name was and Lindsay replied, "My name is on my name tag! Can't you read it?". If that wasn't enough, she proceeds to tell her in a hushed tone, "Your breath stinks like coffee!" I WAS MORTIFIED!!! That Lindsay...ya gotta love her :)
